EUROPEAN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY EDUCATION FOUNDATION
|
EIPEF ("European Intellectual Property Education Foundation"), a non-profit Foundation, was established in 2001 in The Netherlands, in consultation with the Association of Dutch patent attorneys, as a national institute. EIPEF is setup to train patent professionals.

The initial focus was on training candidates from the Dutch region for the European Qualifying Examination (EQE). This training has proven highly successful. The training has always been adapted to follow the changes in the EQE. Currently, the training includes courses preparing candidates for the last round of the classic EQE as well as courses preparing candidates for the new format of the EQE. Based on the training material developed for the Dutch program, shorter EQE training courses have been developed. These shorter courses range from 1 day to 12 day (in four blocks). The courses cover different aspects such as methodology/tactics, time management, trial-runs/mock exams, sessions discussing papers, etc. Increasingly, training material is made available too, including the well-known books with "Main Exam Questions for Paper D", "Basic Legal Questions for the Foundation Paper" and "Pre-Exam Cases and Exams".
Since 2011 EIPEF organizes the training for formalities officers, who prepare for the Dutch Formalities Examination. This training contains 4 modules: "General aspects - EPC Procedures", "PCT Procedures - Foreign Systems", "NL Procedures - Changes of Ownership" and "Trademarks & Designs". At the end, just before the exam, candidates have the option to follow an "Exam Training". |
Also other courses for patent professionals have been developed or are being developed, such as "Ongoing Education" of (European) patent attorneys, training of formalities officers, training of information specialists, training of in-house patent co-ordinators.
DeltaPatents Training is the executive body of EIPEF. In this role, DeltaPatents Training develops and owns the courses and the material. EIPEF offers the courses in the Netherlands. Close co-operations have been established with many relevant national, European and international institutions, including the European Patent Academy and the Association of Finish Patent Attorneys (IPR University Center). Through these organisations, courses and material are made available locally. These co-operations result in improved quality of the training and distribution of the accumulated knowledge to more candidates. |
